So you may have heard that everyone’s favorite “holy goddamn jackrabbits she’s an actual potential candidate?” Michelle Bachmann said this about the quakes and hurricanes:
“I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’ Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we’ve got to rein in the spending.”
Now her campaign is insisting that, no really, it was just a joke.
My problems, in no particular order:
- God hits the northeast with minor disasters to make a comment on economic policies? How the hell does that work?
- Okay, it’s a joke. What’s the punchline? Where’s the “joke” part of the joke?
- Do Republicans think that they get a blank check to say stupid shit if, after the backlash lands, they say it was just a joke?
- Why the hell is anyone taking this woman seriously?!?
