So apparently Randi Rhoades, Air America personality, called Hillary Clinton a “fucking whore” amongst other things and was smacked with a one week suspension over it. Rather than apologize, like you’d expect, she decided to just leave entirely, and is now gone from Air America.
A source at Air America, who asked to remain anonymous, said, “Many people screw up and then apologize and move on. Like Imus. Like David Shuster. Like Jay Rockefeller on McCain. Like Obama on Rezko. Like Hillary on Bosnia. Randi Rhodes refused to apologize for her obscene comments and has chosen instead to terminate her relationship with Air America.”
The source also said that there is no love lost between Rhodes and her colleagues at the network. “No one is upset. She made the move but there’s relief and joy.”
Two things. One, I’ve really lost much reason to listen to Air America. I love the station in the abstract, but they’ve lost the only three people I ever listened to: Mike Malloy (a while ago), then Al Franken, and now Randi. In fact, they left in the order I was interested in them. It’s like they invaded my brain, found out my top 3 AA personalities, and conspired to remove them in sequence. Great.
Secondly, I understand the need to stand up for what you believe, but come on. This wasn’t a disagreement over policy, she didn’t get punished for saying something that really needed “standing up for”. Imus had a leg to stand on by claiming it wasn’t as big a deal as was made, but she called Hillary a “fucking whore”. Apologize and move on.
Sometimes I think people hold onto “principle” beyond the realm of prudence. Shame, but I’ll still get the podcasts.

She constantly did the “Shout your guest down” thing, like O’Reilly. Even people who called in to AGREE with her, she talked over them until they just shut up.
I recall her at, I think the Democrat or Republican convention. She caught this high profile Congressional oversight guy on the arm and said, “So, Republicans just won’t play bi-partisan with Democrats, right? They’re just assholes, aren’t they?”
“Well, I don’t know anything about that. My group really is more concerned about x y and z with regards to this topic over here.”
“I KNOW! They’re assholes, right? They’re not willing to work with us!”

I’m not a huge fan of Rhoades either… but I respect her decision and, unfortunately, I kind of agree with her take on Hillary.

She could definitely be, well, a “focking hoe” in the interviews, but she was intelligent and articulate much of the time, which made her entertaining.

I know I’m a month and a half out of phase on this thread but I’d like express my opinion about Rhoades. When I first began listening to her last fall, I found she had some very intelligent and articulate takes on many issues.
I particularly liked her views on the military, since she herself had experience within, and had respect for the real honesty soldiers.
But she did begin to grate on me and could be quite acerbic. Never cared much for “Bounce Your Boobies” every Friday either, I mean once or twice is funny but JC it gets old.
Frankly, I wasn’t too upset when she got the sack.

As far as Miss Rhoades comment about about Hillary >> TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE.
She has managed to replace insightful comment by loud expletives which means she is nothing but a rabble rousing air head. I would like to see MARK LEVIN debate that loud mouth bag lady.

Randi makes some important points when others either miss the point or refuse to make it…the fact that both the Clintons are ego driven whores is really not an important point (at this point). My only problem with Randi was her poor taste in music. My God! Enough with the big hair noise and the lesbian ranting. Why she couldn’t focus on the important points, e.g. Oligarchy vs Democracy, I don’t know…. Adios Rhandi!
