This is what really irks me about GOP candidates

See, when Mitt Romney says we’re the only country who puts their hands on their hearts for the national anthem, does anyone actually think he put any research into that statement? It’s no surprise at all that he’s wrong, but the problem is this is indicative of the thought process that we see in men like him: we just assume that the United States is the golden icon of goodness, so clearly the US is the only country that would put their hands on their hearts.

There’s a difference between being wrong and simply saying something which is based in nothing beyond assumption.

  1. There are other things Mitt believes which may not be true, necessarily:  that Moroni gave golden tablets written in a planetary language to an at-loose-ends grifter, sex addict and scam artist near Elmyra, NY; that magic glasses helped JS read those tablets, inside his hat; that Native Americans were the lost Nephites (or Labanites, whatever); that some ancient old goat in Salt Lake speaks directly to God and passes it on to the rest of us; that his own tribe will be the saviour of the Consititution (which, of course, is “hanging by a thread”; that postmortem baptism actually works; that the faithful get their own planet after they die; on so on.  All these things also seem based on nothing beyond assumption.
