Okay, ready? Good. Well, the Teabaggers of Tampa have devised a summer camp. Not like a summer getaway for voters where there’d be speeches by Sarah Palin, but a goddamn summer camp for children where they’ll be “taught” Tea Party values. Naturally, in this case, “taught” means “crammed down their throats”. It’s a fantastic example of an opportunity for parents to quite literally force their values into their kids against their wills. It’s mind-rape.
One example at Liberty: Children will win hard, wrapped candies to use as currency for a store, symbolizing the gold standard. On the second day, the “banker” will issue paper money instead. Over time, students will realize their paper money buys less and less, while the candies retain their value.
Another example: Starting in an austere room where they are made to sit quietly, symbolizing Europe, the children will pass through an obstacle course to arrive at a brightly decorated party room (the New World).
It’s a nonstop barrage of Tea Party bullshit. Europe is bad, God and right-wing capitalism are good, liberals are trying to steal your money. And they’re jamming it into childrens’ brains.
One thing these idiots love to screech about is how liberals “indoctrinate” kids. Oh sure, science camps exist, but that’s more a case of making potato light bulbs and learning about Newton’s Laws. This? This is pure indoctrination. They want to take children before they have a chance to examine both sides on their own and force them into their way of thinking.
I hate to paint with a wide brush, but that really is the way, isn’t it? Get your children baptized and make sure they go to church every Sunday, send them to “Liberty camp” when they’re eight, then hopefully by the time they reach the age of reason they’ll be so deep in the way of thinking that you, the parent, wanted that they’ll be unable to break away from it.
