  9. I'm surmising that this refers to the Reuters headline re: the victory of Walter Dix over Tyson Gay in the 200m – "Tired Gay Succumbs to Dix". While almost priceless, there is another one that I think is hands down winner for Best Headline Ever.

After Atlanta Constitution columnist Lewis Grizzard died, some of his coworkers recalled how he came in late one Friday night to a bar in Athens, GA. He was a UGA student in journalism and did headline copy at night as a part-time job. It seems that the Georgia Bulldogs were playing the South Carolina Gamecocks the next day, and Georgia linebacker Happy Dix was injured and at the last minute to be unavailable for the game. Grizzard told his friends that the Friday copy editor was a bit intoxicated, and that he (Grizzard) may have gotten away with one that ordinarily would be caught. Those friends should watch for the next morning's sports headline in the Athens paper. Sure enough, everyone took out the Saturday sports section to see "DAWGS PLAY COX WITH DIX OUT".
