RNC slideshow: Evil empires and mocking their own donors

One of the reasons I avoid “stupid shit the right says” is that there’s no real point to it. Such instances are just empty calories for political junkies, offering a quick fix but not much else.

This, however, is way goddamn different. Politico got into the belly of the beast and found a Powerpoint presentation created by the RNC, and the details are… well they’re ugly to say the least. Democrats are evil, their donors and ego-driven morons who can be bought off, the works. You ever wondered what a party corrupted truly looks like? Here ya go.

One page, headed “The Evil Empire,” pictures Obama as the Joker from Batman, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leaders Harry Reid are depicted as Cruella DeVille and Scooby Doo, respectively.

The most unusual section of the presentation is a set of six slides headed “RNC Marketing 101.” The presentation divides fundraising into two traditional categories, direct marketing and major donors, and lays out the details of how to approach each group.

The small donors who are the targets of direct marketing are described under the heading “Visceral Giving.” Their motivations are listed as “fear;” “Extreme negative feelings toward existing Administration;” and “Reactionary.”

Look, the Democrats are hardly saints, and to say our left-leaning leaders haven’t been guilty of some pretty harsh rhetoric would just be a damn lie. But at no point at a damn party meeting would the Dems put cartoonish caricatures of the Bush administration and completely shit all over their own support structure. If there were a DNC slideshow that looked like this, I can’t imagine it would go over well at all.

I should not that, oddly, there is a parallel between the right and left bases. We’re both pretty pissed at our representatives. Just for very different reasons.
