The difference between Clinton and Obama.

Okay, okay, so I’m writing about the primary again. I can’t help it, since voting is tomorrow I’m getting outright swamped with campaigning from the Obama and Hillary camps.

In the past week I’ve gotten a half dozen or so calls from both camps. That’s to be expected, but there was something noticeable about them. Every single call I got from the Clinton campaign was an automated message recorded by Hillary herself. It was one of those “Hi there! This is Hillary Clinton reminding you to vote, I think I’ll do the best job, etc” type calls, lasted about 45 seconds, and then ended.

By contrast, each time I got a call from the Obama campaign, it was an actual person. Someone first called me up and just asked if I was voting for Obama. Later I got a call telling me the exact time and location to vote, adding in why my hometown would specifically benefit from an Obama presidency.

I’m not sure what this tells me about the two sides, but I did find it interesting that there was no overlap, I didn’t get any Obama calls that were automated and I haven’t gotten any calls from actual people encouraging me to vote for Hillary. What I can say, however, is that when I’m talking to a person, I’m more likely to hang on the line than when I realize I’m listening to a machine.

I think it must be a regional thing, because today alone I’ve gotten two phone calls from an automated Obama.
