If this kind of thing keeps up, I may have to pay much closer attention to the FOX network. Both Brian Kilmeade and Chris Wallace, the latter of whom I’ve no love lost for over his Bill Clinton interview, assailed their own network for their attacking Obama’s “typical white woman” remark in an interview. Watch both clips, they’re pretty amazing.
This is the kind of behaviour that FOX has a reputation for quashing, for firing any anchors who come to the aid of liberals and giving pats on the back to anchors who just attack Democrats baselessly (good ol’ Steve Douchey, er, Doocy). So to see two fairly big name anchors, particularly Wallace, steadfastly defending Obama tells us potentially two things:
- Obama can indeed bridge the gap between left and right. They aren’t going to look at he and Hillary as both part of the liberal cabal threatening to destroy America.
- Alternately, seeing their ratings plummet after staking their entire reputation on George W Bush and the neoconservative movement is taking its toll, so now the network may truly be fair and balanced, at least as long as it’s more profitable.
